Thanks for taking part in CASA of Oklahoma County’s #JoinInJune — our month of awareness for our mission to provide advocacy for the abused and neglected children in the Oklahoma County foster system. This month, we seek to expand our public awareness and rally together those who want to join in hearing and sharing about the work of our incredible volunteers.
At CASA of Oklahoma County, we give a trained, caring adult to an abused child during one of the scariest times in their lives, the time they are removed from the only home they have ever known and placed in a system of strangers.
While most of the time advocating means doing what is in the best interests of the child in regards to a permanent home, our volunteers also advocate to make sure children get all of the services they need that are available through Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS).
Many times foster children go through so many placements that their basic needs are overlooked. Sometimes no one is noticing their grades are failing, their clothes do not fit, or they may have physical or mental health needs. Our advocate volunteers make sure the children on their cases have their voices heard in court, at school and in their community. Additionally, these volunteers make sure the children have someone who cares for their needs like tutoring, clothes, mental and physical health and so much more.
Thank you so much for seeking to learn more about the mission and work of CASA of Oklahoma county — now, how are you going to join us this month?
Thank you for taking the next step and joining us in our mission to serve this fragile and important population of children. Your support means the world to us — as well as to our volunteers and the children they serve.
“Our children are our greatest treasure. They are our future.”
